We are cheesemongers with a passion for artisanal and farmstead cheeses. Everyone has a unique palate, and we want to find the perfect cheese for yours. We use our vast cheese knowledge and love of the curd to bring the cheesemaker’s labor of love to your table. In addition to offering the highest quality cheeses, we also offer a finely curated selection of meat and charcuterie, crackers, bread, dried fruits, nuts, olives, honey, jams, and more to bring your cheese experience to the next level. We also make a mean made-to-order sandwich and offer a beautiful selection of gifts and catering platters.

Carol Johnson has been working in the food industry since her first kitchen job at 16. Her cheese education began at home where she gained the nickname ‘cheese-mouse’ for hiding and devouring all the cheese in the house. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY she has pursued food through the lens of nutrition, catering, education, professional kitchens, importing, and sales.
After a farmstead cheese-making apprenticeship in NM she moved to NYC on an impulse. There she discovered the depth of science, culture, and artisan-ship that encompasses cheese. While working as a cheesemonger she became an American Cheese Society Certified Cheese Professional (ACS CCP), was assistant manager at Murray’s Cheese flagship store in the West Village, and competed and placed twice in the Cheesemonger Invitational.
Carol is delighted to take over ownership of Monger’s Palate from founder and friend, Lisa Griffin and fulfill her lifelong dream of owning her own space where she can share her love of cheese with the NYC community.
